Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about construction marketing, our services, and what to expect as a client.

Getting Started

Questions about working with Red Door Marketing

How long does it take to see results from marketing?

Results timelines vary by service. Google Ads typically generates leads within the first 2-4 weeks once campaigns are live. SEO takes 3-6 months to show significant ranking improvements, with full results in 6-12 months. Email marketing campaigns can produce responses within the first week of sending. We set clear expectations during onboarding and provide regular progress updates so you always know where you stand.

Do you work with small contractors or only large companies?

We work with construction companies of all sizes, from solo operators to multi-state enterprises. Our Starter package is designed specifically for smaller contractors ready to start generating leads, while our Scale package serves established firms with regional or national ambitions. The strategies we use are adapted to your budget, market, and growth goals.

What makes Red Door different from other marketing agencies?

We exclusively serve the construction industry. This specialization means we understand your sales cycles, your customers, your competitors, and the language that resonates with your buyers. We don't apply generic playbooks — we build strategies based on what actually works for contractors in your specific trade and market.

Do you require long-term contracts?

Yes, we require a 12-month commitment for most services. Marketing campaigns need time to optimize and compound — short-term engagements rarely produce the results you deserve. This commitment ensures we have the runway to deliver real ROI, not just quick wins that fade. For project-based work like web design, we use milestone-based agreements.

What information do you need to get started?

To begin, we need access to your existing marketing accounts (Google Ads, Google Analytics, Google Business Profile), your website login, and information about your services, service areas, and ideal customers. We'll guide you through the onboarding process with a checklist and dedicated support.

SEO & Organic Search

Questions about search engine optimization

How long does SEO take to work?

SEO is a long-term investment. You'll typically see initial ranking improvements in 3-4 months, meaningful traffic increases in 4-6 months, and significant lead generation in 6-12 months. The timeline depends on your starting point, competition, and how aggressively we pursue the strategy. Unlike paid ads, SEO results compound over time.

What is the difference between SEO Lite and SEO Pro?

SEO Lite ($700/month) focuses on Google Business Profile optimization, local citations, and monthly reporting — ideal for contractors who want to improve their local presence. SEO Pro ($1,500/month) includes technical SEO, content strategy, link building, and comprehensive optimization for contractors serious about dominating search results in their market.

Do you guarantee first page rankings?

No legitimate SEO agency can guarantee specific rankings because Google's algorithm is controlled by Google, not us. What we do guarantee is following proven best practices, transparent reporting on progress, and continuous optimization based on data. Our track record shows consistent ranking improvements for clients who commit to the process.

What is Answer Engine Optimization (AEO)?

AEO optimizes your content to appear in AI-powered search results like Google's AI Overviews, ChatGPT, and voice assistants. As more people use AI to find contractors, AEO ensures your business appears in those answers. It involves structured data, entity building, and content formatting that AI systems can easily understand and cite.

Will you write content for my website?

Yes, content creation is included in our SEO Pro package. We write service pages, location pages, blog posts, and other content optimized for both search engines and human readers. All content is written specifically for construction companies — no generic filler content.

Email Marketing & Outreach

Questions about email campaigns and cold outreach

Is it normal to only get 3 positive replies from an email campaign in 10 days?

Yes, this is completely normal and often a good sign! Cold email response rates typically range from 1-5% for positive replies. If you're sending 100-200 emails per day, 3 positive replies in 10 days means you're on track. What matters is the quality of those replies — are they decision-makers expressing genuine interest? We optimize for booked appointments, not just reply volume.

How many emails do you send per day?

We typically send 50-200 emails per day per mailbox, depending on your campaign. We use multiple warmed-up domains and mailboxes to protect your sender reputation and maximize deliverability. Volume is scaled gradually to maintain high inbox placement rates.

What response rate should I expect from cold email?

For B2B construction outreach, expect 1-5% positive response rates on cold campaigns. This means for every 100 emails sent, you might get 1-5 interested prospects. However, these are highly qualified leads who have specifically expressed interest in your services — making them much more valuable than cold calls or generic leads.

Will cold email hurt my company's reputation?

Not when done correctly. We use separate domains for outreach (not your main company domain), properly warmed mailboxes, compliant messaging, and easy opt-out options. Your primary domain and email reputation remain protected. We follow all CAN-SPAM and email compliance requirements.

How long until I see appointments from email marketing?

Most clients see their first booked appointments within 2-4 weeks of campaign launch. The first week involves domain warmup and initial sends. Replies typically start coming in during week 2. By week 3-4, you should have a steady flow of conversations and booked meetings.

For Current Clients

Questions from contractors already working with us

Why did my lead volume drop this month?

Lead volume fluctuations are normal and can be caused by seasonality, market conditions, competitor activity, or algorithm changes. Before worrying, check if the drop aligns with seasonal patterns for your trade. We monitor these trends and adjust strategies accordingly. If the drop is unusual, we'll investigate and provide a specific action plan in your next report.

How do I know if my campaigns are working?

You have access to a real-time dashboard showing leads, calls, cost-per-lead, and conversion metrics. We also provide monthly reports that break down performance, explain what's working, and outline next steps. If you're ever unsure, reach out — we're happy to walk through your numbers anytime.

Can I pause my campaigns temporarily?

Pausing is possible but generally not recommended. Marketing momentum takes time to build, and pausing can reset progress — especially for SEO. If you're facing a temporary capacity issue, we can reduce ad spend or shift focus rather than fully pausing. Talk to your account manager about the best approach for your situation.

Why am I getting leads outside my service area?

This occasionally happens due to IP location differences, people searching while traveling, or geo-targeting precision limits. We continuously refine targeting to minimize this. If you're seeing a pattern, let us know the specific zip codes or areas to exclude and we'll update targeting immediately.

How do I request changes to my campaigns?

Email your account manager or submit requests through your client portal. For urgent changes (pause campaigns, update phone numbers, etc.), call us directly. Most standard requests are implemented within 24-48 business hours. Larger strategic changes are discussed in your monthly strategy call.

What should I do when a lead doesn't answer?

Follow up! Most leads require 5-7 contact attempts before connecting. Call within 5 minutes of receiving the lead, then follow up at different times of day. Send a text message. Leave voicemails that mention you're returning their inquiry. Persistence is key — the contractor who follows up wins the job.

Pricing & Billing

Questions about costs and payment

Is ad spend included in your management fees?

No, management fees and ad spend are separate. Our fees cover strategy, campaign building, optimization, and reporting. Ad spend goes directly to Google, Facebook, or other platforms. This gives you full transparency on where every dollar goes.

Do you offer payment plans?

For one-time projects like web design or brand strategy, we offer milestone-based payment schedules. For ongoing services, we bill monthly. We accept credit cards, ACH transfers, and checks. Specific payment terms are outlined in your service agreement.

What happens if I want to cancel?

Services are billed for the full contract term. Early cancellation may be subject to the remaining balance per your agreement. We're confident in our results — that's why we invest heavily upfront in strategy and setup. If you're unhappy, talk to us first. We'd rather solve the problem than lose a client.

Do you offer refunds?

Due to the nature of marketing services (strategy development, campaign building, optimization work), we do not offer refunds for work already performed. However, if you're unsatisfied, we'll work with you to address concerns and improve results. Our goal is your success.

Can I get a discount for bundling services?

Yes! Our bundled packages (Starter, Growth, Scale) offer better value than purchasing services separately. We also offer custom bundle discounts: 10% off for 2 services, 15% off for 3 services, and 20% off for 4+ services. The more you bundle, the more you save.
